Welcome on the home page of the working group

Adaptive System Architecture!

The working group deals with the architecture  of adaptive ("intelligent") information processing systems. Usually,  the desired functions are directly programmed into a system - but this is not always possible. It is much more efficient to give the system the possibility to adapt itself to its environment optimally.

A simple example  for this is a  thermostat for heating  - it allows us to leave the heating system on its own without the necessity to regulate the heating all the time. Many systems are not thinkable without a sensoring system and an adaptive control, for instance the high speed reactive landing system of a space shuttle.

All mechanisms which may perform „learning“ in a system are interesting for us and subject of teaching and research.
