What is TAON ?

TAON stands for: "The Art Of Noise" and is a project that was in the first place meant for a class at university. Afterall, we thought we needed a project bringing fun and as the whole team is kinda audiophil, we decided to write a soundeditor for Linux. You might think, hey, what the heck, thereīs tons out there. Well, this is just partly true. There are not much REAL Audio Editors for Linux, and I donīt know of any supporting plugins. So hereīs the deal. We tried to provide you with an easy to use, fun bringing tool, enjoy it !

How do I install it

Well, first of all, you will have to download it. Then put the archive in the place you want to install it, letīs say, /usr/local/taon, then do a "gunzip -c taon-0.6b.rel.gz|tar xf -" or "tar xzvf taon-0.6b.rel.tgz"and you should be basicly done. You can now run the program. On the frst startup a config file is created and standard parameters are set. After that, if the plugin directory is set up properly and you restarted TAON, all Plugins will be available.

Preliminarities:

Here is what you will need to run TAON on your computer:

Form of distribution:

The program is provided as is, we give no warranty of any kind, and are not responsible for any possible damage or data loss. We just provide precompiled binaries, and some source for plugins, as well as needed include files. All source is respective property of the writers, as well as the Plugin API design. No changes are allowed and no reverse engineering. You can write plugins, and do with them, what you want, they always stay property of their writer, or whatever his/her plans are.
